We are looking for 1,000 women and men to invest US$1,000 each to help us build a Credit Union Bank in Zimbabwe to empower women. We are inspired by Kenyan women who pulled their resources to make investments in real estate and transportation.
Established in 2020, Empowered Woman Excel SACCO has helped over a thousand women on their path to financial independence. One stream of income isn’t enough, and SACCO provides three—dividends from shares, interest on savings and more recently the ability to own property. We also provided capital through our loans, which can now be obtained at 0%, that have been used to support various business initiatives.
Having done all this, we are ready to make the next step. As a credit union bank, we can further our goal of empowering women through financial inclusion. As a credit union bank, we will be able to establish an HQ and women’s center along with expand our range of offerings, such as mortgages building off our current land schemes.
